What We Offer

Welcome to Mountain View Retreat House in the Bitterroot Mountains of northern Idaho. Nestled in the pinewoods, Mountain View Retreat House offers a place where individuals and small groups take time for reflection, healing, and discovery.

Cataldo Mountain

The retreat house sits on Cataldo Mountain, on 86 acres of forested land bordering the Coeur d’Alene River in Cataldo, Idaho. At our doorstep lies the 72-mile Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, offering opportunities for biking, walking, jogging, and in winter, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing.

You’ll encounter an array of wildlife, from summer’s tiny hummingbirds to the rare wildcat. We also share the land with turkey, owl, moose, bear, deer, and elk.

Meeting Room

The retreat house looks out on the surrounding Bitterroot Mountains. The main room features cathedral ceilings and expansive views. At 1300 square feet, it affords ample space for your group’s activities: large and small meetings, prayer and meditation, exercise and movement. The room can be arranged in a variety of configurations to meet your specific needs.

The meeting room is equipped with CD, tape, and DVD players, video camera and recorder, massage tables, and martial arts mats.

Bed, Bath, and Sauna

The retreat house has five double-occupancy bedrooms on the lower level (one room has a double bed). The large bathroom includes two private toilet rooms and three shower stalls, as well as laundry facilities. Guests are also invited to use the wood-heated sauna. We provide all linens and towels.

Meals

A fully-equipped kitchen and dining area overlook the lower orchard and a hillside meadow. In spring, the scent of apple blossoms fills the air and exuberant wild daisies cover the meadow.

You can prepare your own meals or request catering for group events. A small café is within walking distance and open from 8 a.m.- 9 p.m., seven days a week. You’ll find groceries, gasoline, and movie rentals in the village of Pinehurst, five miles east of Cataldo. Rural Idaho has no public transportation.

Reiki Treatments

A single Reiki session or daily treatment throughout your stay can bring deep relaxation, renew well-being, and awaken insight. We have both practiced Reiki for over thirty-three years and traveled internationally teaching and giving workshops.

Rates for Reiki treatment:

1 hour session—$60.00

1 1/2 hour session—$85.00

If you’d like to set up a time to talk about scheduling a personal retreat, meeting, or workshop, we would love to provide the place for the work you want to do.

What Our Guests Say

This retreat was an important planning event for our school year. The location was perfect for our need to get away and develop our vision . . . being surrounded by the lush greenery and sitting up on the hill set the stage for creative thinking . . . and the food was delicious. It felt like we were at home and in an expensive restaurant at the same time. The cost was exceptionally reasonable.”

Sandra Pommerening, School Superintendent, Kellogg, ID

“Sunlight in the great room. Trails to walk at noon. Generous vistas, restful quarters. Space for deep learning. Community.”

Timothy Cunningham, Family Constellation Facilitator, Spokane, WA
